Summary:
Fabrication is the key element of this position, as the Welder builds a unit from the ground up using subcomponents from the previous step in the process given only the final drawing design from Engineering.
There are no step-by-step instructions.
The Welder figures out the order of fabrication for the pieces presented to him or her.
A typical unit can be 5-10 feet tall and the same wide and long.
It takes anywhere from 1 to 3 days to fabricate a unit.
Welder Requirements:
Operate overhead cranes and Hi-Lo equipment Interface and communicate with other departments to accomplish tasks Capable of reading mechanical engineering prints MIG weld steel components and caulk completed units Use a variety of hand tools Maintain a clean work area Ability to apply all applicable safety requirements Must be available for overtime Schedule:
1st Shift, Monday-Thursday, 6:
