Position summaryThis position provides expertise in contract and procurement activities that ensure quality food items, and services are purchased in a cost effective, efficient, and ethical manner. These duties require strategic planning and problem solving skills, big picture vision, a comprehensive knowledge of industry, sourcing discounted food items, a hands-on understanding of the Company's SAP platform, and a demonstrated capability to work and communicate collaboratively throughout the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities Negotiate pricing for off price food product, securing winning bids Work closely with and support primary customer authorized suppliers, assuring compliance of order placement and pricing verification. Resolve quality and delivery problems and coordinate return of defective material. Insure cost effective and timely delivery of products. As needed, source and negotiate with suppliers on prices for local purchases Work with internal cross functional teams for process improvements related to purchasing and inventory control. Establish certain KPI's such as purchase price variance and works towards exceeding those targets Effectively expedite orders to prevent line down situations and air transportation costs. Track all supplier acknowledgements to ensure on-time component delivery. Actively participate on Lean/Continuous Improvement implementation projects. Place purchase orders per provided forecasts utilizing order guides, order calculators, and SAP. Maintain procurement files and track/report purchasing activity and metrics to Warehouse Manager and Accounting Manager Participate and complete month end inventories for all inventoried items Coverage for buyer absences and vacations Insure all items have bin location assignments in SAP. Monitor and log all waste of expired food thrown away
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Previous purchasing/buyer experience, 3
years of experience SAP MM experience strongly preferred Solid analytical, critical thinking, with good attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Flexible with a high degree of integrity. Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows applicationsEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
