Watercraft Manager - Summer Camp 2019

Responsibilities:

Ensure that all aspects of the camper experience are conducted in a compliant fashion for The Salvation Army Safe From Harm program.

Supervise Watercraft activities consistent with aquatic procedures.

Daily observe campers during aquatic activities for any signs of abuse and report any suspicions of abuse to the Director or program director according to the guidelines established in the "Child Abuse Prevention" section of the staff manual

Provide an orientation for boating procedures to all campers as participants arrive and enforce camper compliance during activities.

Supervise all watercraft activities under the direction of the Aquatics Supervisor and according to Michigan rules and by American Camping Association standards.

Keep all watercraft and equipment in premium condition, clean, stored properly and secured when not in use.

Provide for operation of pontoon craft for organized and scheduled groups occurring outside of routine activity times.

Enter details in the daily log for each watercraft activity that includes:

Number of persons participating in boating.

Record of daily inspections of watercraft and equipment.

Number of rowing or other waterfront classes and attendance.

Near accidents or injuries.

Assist with camper supervision at meals.

Attend and participate as needed in all evening programs.

Assist in supervision of challenge course activities when swimming instruction is not conducted.

Assist in cleaning Great Lakes Center lower level restrooms daily.

May be asked to fulfil duties of Associate Counselor to include in cabin residence and support to the Unit Counselor.

All other duties as assigned by your Supervisor or Camp Administration.

Qualifications

Minimum 18 years of age. Current lifeguard certification and First Aid/Professional Rescuer CPR from nationally recognized provider, previous watercraft experience and six weeks guarding experience. Must be able to obtain small craft license, MI Safe Boaters license or craft instructor s certification.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
