Aquatics Supervisor - Summer Camp 2019

Overview
Summer Camp position. Hours per week wil vary by session duration.
Responsibilities
Teach aquatic observer class for staff during orientation using appropriate procedures.
Ensure that all aspects of the camper experience are conducted in a compliant fashion for The Salvation Army "Safe From Harm" program.
Perform 2 scheduled evaluations with documentation on the staff under your supervision.
Encourage safety of all campers participating in activities at the waterfront.
Perform medical duties to the full extent authorized by license or certification.
Supervise Watercraft and Waterfront managers, instructing them in aquatic procedures.
Complete ACA skills assessments for all aquatic staff before their assumption of duties submitted completed forms to the camp director for documentation.
Conduct and document regular observations of aquatic activity leaders to verify that leaders:
Enforce established safety regulations
Provide appropriate instruction to participants
Identify and mange environmental and other hazards related to the activity
Apply appropriate emergency and rescue procedures related to the activity and the participants
Correct inadequate performance with a supportive action plan that includes action steps, timeliness of correction, follow up schedule and final documentation of compliance
Submit completed observation documentation to the camp director for ACA records
Verify that a daily log is being kept by aquatic managers for each activity to include:
Number of staff swim periods and attendance.
Number of free swim periods and the attendance.
Number of persons participating in boating.
Number of swim classes conducted and attendance.
Number of rowing or other waterfront classes and attendance.
Swimmer's skill assessment results.
Reports must be documented in a log and submitted to the Camp Director at summer's end. Daily class attendance must be reported to Program Director the evening before the last day of camp or as requested by the program director.
Meet with leadership team for session planning meetings prior to each encampment.
Plan water carnivals as directed.
Maintain written aquatic emergency plan and review with staff weekly. Also review the aquatics policy manual and recommend changes as needed each summer.
Be familiar with Michigan rules and verify that activities are operating accordingly.
Plan, conduct and document a routine of training and conditioning exercises for the waterfront staff to maintain the highest physical performance and maximum emergency preparedness.
Assist with the supervision of children at mealtimes.
Attend and participate as needed in all evening programs.
Present waterfront orientation to campers the first day of each session and oversee swimmer qualification testing and documentation.
Be familiar with American Camp Association standards as they apply to aquatic activities and maintain compliance. A copy of ACA standards and Michigan state rules should be available at the waterfront for reference.
All other duties as assigned by your Supervisor or Camp Administration
Qualifications
Minimum 21 years of age. Possess a lifeguard certification and First Aid/Professional Rescuer CPR from nationally recognized provider within the past 3 years (instructor level preferred), 6 weeks waterfront supervisory experience.. Current or recent WSI and watercraft experience is beneficial.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
